International Datacasting Joins SRT Alliance: Open Source Protocol for Quality Streaming Via Internet

2019-04-01

Ottawa, ON – (April 1, 2019):  International Datacasting (IDC) announced that it has joined the SRT Alliance, the growing community of companies supporting the open source SRT (secure reliable transport) protocol for low-latency video streaming.

IDC is a long-time leader in IP solutions for content distribution. Its MISTiQ cloud delivery platform for radio and video as well as all of its current and next-generation products are oriented for the internet. But inherent challenges remain in the Internet environment—including security, and inconsistent reliable connectivity. The SRT protocol addresses these issues, tackling packet loss, jitter, and fluctuations in available bandwidth to preserve video quality, as well as facilitating secure navigation of firewalls.

The SRT protocol is being widely adopted by industry leaders (www.srtalliance.org/members/) and fast gaining recognition for its innovative approach.

Novra Group VP Business Development and Products Gary Carter commented, “Video distribution is a high-growth market, and IP-centric technologies is where we thrive. We are strong believers in open standards, and we are incorporating them into all of our products. We are pleased to participate in this important initiative.”

New products in the IDC/Novra/Wegener video suite of solutions will be on display at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas, April 6-11 at the International Datacasting/Novra Group booth SU3621.

At NAB 2019, over 60 SRT Alliance member companies will be exhibiting. Haivision and Microsoft will also be hosting a number of free-to-attend panel sessions featuring top broadcasters and industry leaders discussing their SRT implementation and the impact of SRT on their operations.
